Known as the "Western Gateway" to the Rocky Mountain National Park, Grand Lake has something for everyone. The charming lakeside setting of Grand Lake makes folks feel at home. In the summer, hike, bike, or ATV through unspoiled terrain or boat, sail, or fish on Grand Lake, home to one of the oldest yacht clubs in the west. In the winter, Grand Lake, deemed the "Snowmobiling Capital of Colorado", transforms into a winter wonderland with miles and miles of trails for snowshoeing, Nordic skiing, and of course, snowmobiling.

Top Grand Lake Attractions

  • Backcountry skiing and snowboarding is a popular winter activity for residents and visitors to Grand Lake. Berthoud Pass, Parsenn Bowl, Zero Creek Bowl, Wildwood Glade, The Cirque, or Eagle Wind will give intermediate and advanced skiiers and riders the backcountry seclusion and unbelievable views they're looking for.  
  • A historic, year-round site for fun, the Grand Lake Boardwalk contains 60+ shops, restaurants, bars, and galleries. While you're out on foot, check out Point Park, a unique place to fish from the dock, enjoy nonmotorized water crafts, and picnic. 
  • Rocky Mountain National Park is a staple of Colorado vacations. Grand Lake is lucky to be within 15 minutes of the RMNP west entrance and the Kawuneeche Visitor Center.
  • Make Grand Lake your basecamp for fishing. Check out the fish reports in Grand County's Gold Medal Waters. You'll find the perfect place to angle for brown, rainbow and cutthroat trout in the Colorado River or our many lakes and reservoirs.   • Camping near Grand Lake is a great way to stay close to town and enjoy the great outdoors. Pitch a tent, rent a 5-person tipi or cabin, hook-up your RV at Elk Creek Campground. For something a bit more gritty, try Green Ridge Campground, which offers lakeside campsites and access to the Colorado River.
