Located between the towns of Winter Park and Tabernash, Fraser may only be 75 miles from Denver, but when you are visiting you will feel as if you are ''Leaving Planet Earth''. No matter the time of year, Fraser is home to a variety of activites and events to make your stay unforgettbale.

Fraser is an excellent home base for exploring north central Colorado, allowing to explore all of Grand County and surrounding attactions.

  • At 11,660 feet in elevation and traversing the continental divide, Rollins Pass is a must-see feature of the Fraser area. The 14.4 mile point-to-point trail offers a glimpse into the past as well as a lake and unbeatable mountain views. The pass has a fascinating history as a wagon toll road and railroad line, but today is most often used by hikers, campers, mountain bikers and 4x4 thrill-seekers.
  • Both brimming with backcountry allure, James Peak Wilderness and Indian Peaks Wilderness are staples of the Fraser area. Located within the Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests and neighboring the Continental Divide, James Peak Wilderness is comprised of 17,000 acres and multiple 13,000 foot peaks. Just north of JPW and bordered by Rocky Mountain National Park, you'll find one of the most visited preservation areas in the United States, the 76,711 acre Indian Peaks Wilderness. Be sure to check weather, trail conditions, and rules and regulations for these areas prior to visiting.

  • Fishing is a favorite year-round activity in Grand County. There are limitless options for taking advantage of Colorado's gold-medal waters near Fraser. Colorado Parks & Wildlife has a great guide to get you going with useful maps and information. Check out the Fraser River for rainbow and brown trout; St. Louis Creek for small-mouth bass, pike, and musky; and Meadow Creek Reservoir for brook and rainbow trout.
  • In the summer, hike or bike on the Fraser River Trail. Once the snow falls, the Fraser River Trail is transformed and well groomed for snowshoers and/or cross-country skiers to enjoy.
  • For backcountry skiiers and snowboarders, you'll find a world of adventure near Fraser. Check out James Peak Wilderness or Indian Peaks Wilderness
  • Step back in time at the Cozen's Ranch Museum. One of the oldest homesteads in town and once the post offie and stage shop, is now a musuem paying homage to pioneer times of the late 1800s.
  • Find all the information you need to hike, road or mountain bike, tent or RV camp, hunt or fish near Fraser and in the surrounding Arapahoe National Forest.
  • Hiking and biking are particularly popular in Fraser. With James Peak Wilderness, Indian Peaks Wilderness, Tipperary Creek Trail nearby, in addition to 100+ more trails in Arapahoe National Forest, it's a hiking and biking paradise.  
  • Tubing on the renown Fraser Tubing Hill provides excitement for the whole family.
  • Camping is another favorite pastime in Fraser, Colorado. Glamp in your RV, rough-it in your tent in the backcountry, or reserve a camp site and enjoy the mid-point between the two. Be sure you know the rules and regulations of each campground you visit before you go. St. Louis Creek Campground and Idlewild Campground are first come, first serve. Other campgrounds in the area may require reservations, so plan ahead.
