Byers Peak

Byers Peak is prominent mountain summit just west of Fraser and Winter Park. Soaring just 12,000 feet, Byers Peak is easily identifiable and one of the most beloved landmarks in Grand County. Byers Peak is the highest point in the Byers Peak Wilderness area.

There are only two main trailheads in the area, but there are many routes and loops allowing visitors to select that fits their skill level and wants best. After a rewarding hike to the summit, take in views of all the surrounding mountain ranges: Vasquez Mountains, the Never Summer Range, Indian Peaks, Rocky Mountain National Park, Williams Fork Range, and the Gore Range.

Camping and rock climbing are also popular activities around Byers Peak.  Before setting out on your adventure to Byers Peak, call the Sulphur Ranger District in Granby at 970-887-4100 to check weather and conditions.
